Sunil Chacko is an intellectual property attorney at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Staas & Halsey LLP. Sunil focuses his practice on patent prosecution, working with clients on a broad range of technology areas in electrical and computer engineering including computer software-related inventions and consumer electronics.
Sunil has an Electrical Engineering degree (B.S.EE) from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree (J.D.) from George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Prior to joining Staas & Halsey LLP, Sunil worked at a boutique patent law firm where he prosecuted patent applications on artificial intelligence (AI) software, medical devices, semiconductors, and video games. Sunil also worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office examining patent applications related to data processing, speech signal processing, linguistics, language translation, audio compression/decompression, image processing, and printing technologies. Sunil has also worked as an engineer for Schlumberger. Sunil draws from his work experience as an engineer and patent examiner to secure his client’s most important intellectual property.
Sunil’s hobbies include traveling, golf, and following his hometown OKC Thunder and Sooners.
