Randal Whitehead is an associate with the Washington D.C. law firm of Staas & Halsey LLP. He has experience prosecuting patent applications related to electrical devices, software and computer-based systems and methods, including cellular telephones, radio communications, computer networking and network security, speech recognition, pointing devices, robotics and electronic displays. He has worked in the University of Maryland School of Law's intellectual property clinic and as an intern with the United States Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C. on criminal prosecutions in organized crime and narcotics trafficking cases. Before attending law school, Mr. Whitehead spent 26 years working as a software developer for what became the largest privately-owned software company in the world, where he designed, tested, and integrated large software products.
Mr. Whitehead has both a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) and a Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Computer Science. He also has a law degree (J.D.) from the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore. Mr. Whitehead is a registered patent agent before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice in Maryland.
Outside of the office, Mr. Whitehead enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and watching college sports.
