Stephen G. McClure is an attorney at Staas & Halsey LLP. Mr. McClure received a Juris Doctorate degree, with honorary Dean’s List designations, from Case Western Reserve University. While there, he also worked as a Patent Law Research Assistant at the university and completed an independent study on the effects of the European Biotech directive. He also completed a study on European Patent Law. He was part of the IP Transatlantic Summer Academy, in Milan, Italy, as well as treasurer of the Student IP Law Association during his years at CWRU. He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Duke University, where he majored in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering.
Before joining Staas & Halsey LLP, Mr. McClure worked as an Associate attorney at McDonald Hopkins in Cleveland, Ohio. At this firm, Mr. McClure focused on patent preparation and prosecution. He also prepared legal opinions and provided legal counseling on Intellectual Property matters such as infringement, validity, freedom to operate, claim construction, intervening rights, and licensing. His work included a strong emphasis on electrical and biomedical based applications. A few examples of technical areas he has worked in include wireless data communications, signal processing, semiconductors, data management systems, drug delivery systems, medical sensors, implantable devices, and surgical devices.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. McClure worked in the Clinical Genomics group at IBM. He has previously worked at firms such as McDonald Hopkins in Cleveland, Ohio, and Sughrue Mion, PLLC in Washington, DC.
