Michelle M. Koeth was born and raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rutgers University College of Engineering. 

During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Koeth worked as a software engineering intern in both industry and academia including internships at a government communications technology contractor, L-3 Communications, and at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, a Department of Energy managed high-energy physics laboratory. Before law school, Ms. Koeth worked for four years as a communications analyst and application developer for a large multinational insurance company, CIGNA Corporation, where she acquired certification as a Sun Java Certified Programmer and was the recipient of an award for excellence in customer service. Ms. Koeth received her Juris Doctor degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she also completed a certificate program in Intellectual Property, and received a CALI award in her International Comparative Copyright seminar class. 

Ms. Koeth clerked at Staas & Halsey as a summer associate in 2006.  In fall of 2006, Ms. Koeth was a student at Chicago-Kent's patent law clinic where she counseled clients on various patent law issues. During her time so far working at Staas & Halsey, she has prepared and filed patent applications, worked personally with domestic inventors, and has prosecuted several foreign applications to allowance. Ms. Koeth's areas of expertise include the procurement of patents in the fields of software, communication devices and electronics.

Ms. Koeth is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers.  Ms. Koeth is a published singer/songwriter in the electronic genre, allowing her to expand her skills and knowledge of patent law in new areas.
