Ameet I. Patel was born in Toronto, Canada.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, where he was a Western Scholar recipient.   He received his J.D. with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from DePaul University College of Law.

 

During his undergraduate Computer Science studies, Mr. Patel specialized in Software Engineering and interned as a Systems Analyst at a software development company in Toronto, Canada, where he worked on developing customer care and billing systems for competitive local exchange carriers.

 

During law school, Mr. Patel was a senior law student at DePaul's Technology and Intellectual Property Clinic where he counseled clients on a wide range of intellectual property issues including copyrights, trademarks and patents.  Mr. Patel was also a member of DePaul's Journal of Art and Entertainment Law. 

 

Mr. Patel has worked with the Canadian Research Chair for Internet and E-commerce law as a research assistant and has interned with a Silicon Valley start-up where he worked on developing intellectual property strategies for innovative software products.

 

Mr. Patel is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.  Mr. Patel's areas of expertise include the procurement of patents in the fields of software, electrical devices, and wireless communications.  Mr. Patel is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
